Overview

Main aspects - A4 sheet here

During the process of posting the book as an etext, it was necessary to review content.  The 'Main Aspects' page which follows gives a different title.  It was to have been a social history.

In order to give the book wider appeal, the 'starve and control' element receives less attention than originally planned.  As it says on the 'Preamble' page, there are few pictures so far.  Finding a picture to represent 'starve and control' proved fruitless.  The inclusion of 'Haggis' in the title eliminated that problem.  Subsequent revisions will include more on the creature than there is at present.

Finding the best haggis image was difficult so one was created.  "Wee sleekit timorous haggis moosie" has drawn considerable commendation.  (The typo 'the' in the subsequent Robert Burns quotation  which should have read "O. what a panic's in thy hoosie", will be corrected when the etext is revised across the board in due course.  See the page referred to here.) .  This mistake has drawn numerous emails, too, and thanks to all those who make comments and suggestions.  Please continue.)

The social history aspects of the book demand more on social considerations and the word 'social' has been removed from the final title.  There has been wider historical treatment.  Thanks, again, are due to those who commented when the following overview appeared on an earlier website.  It remains unchanged as the book is still under development.  It is unchanged also because it is a sure way to invite people to write in with comment.  The 'Contact page' is here.
